Bill Validator (BV) Power Error Troubleshooting

Problem: Bill vallidator (BV) plugged into PC but not powering up/no lights/apparently not being recognized by Windows

1. Make sure that Windows is not allowed to turn the device off automatically

a. Open Device Manager in Windows and select > USB Serial Bus Controller

b. Right click on the USB device you are working with and select Properties then click Power management tab and turn off (deselect) “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”

If the problem is still not resolved, try reinstalling the drivers. a. Within Device Manager click on Ports and then right click the specific port for BV and choose “Uninstall device” i. If BV manufacturer is Pyramid, Windows should automatically update the needed driver (have on-site person unplug/replug the device from the PC) For Pyramid maintenance cleaning instructions you can also see Help Topic: Pyramid bill Validator Cleaning Instructions ii.
